Jomon Life Experience

The Wakasa Mikata Jomon Museum conducts a wide range of 'hands-on' experience classes such as clay pipe making, fire making using Jomon Period methods, 'magatama' curved bead making, and earthenware pot making. Why not visit the museum yourself and experience Jomon life?

## fire making using Jomon Period methods
Length: 45 minnutes
Fee: JPY 150/person

*Participants will work in groups.

## 'magatama' curved bead making
Length: 90 minnutes
Fee: JPY 150/piece
Max. 32 people
Open to the 3rd graders and up
*Participants will carve and sand stones with a hole.

## earthenware pot making (March to November)
Length: 90 minnutes
Fee: JPY 400/piece
Max. 32 people
Open to the 5th graders and up
*Your work will be fired and shipped to you after the workshop.

## dug-out canoe riding (early July to late September)
Length: 60 minnutes
Fee: JPY 200/piece
Max. 16 people (8 pairs)
Open to the 5th graders and up
*You will ride a dug-out canoe, made of FRP, that fits up to 2-3 people.

All workshops need to be booked in advance. Please call at least a week before the date. Workshops are only available for visitors of the museum.

Opening Hours	9:00 to 17:00 (Last entry 16:30)
Closed Days	Closed on Tuesdays (or on the following day when the Tuesday is a national holiday), and over the year-end/New Year holidays. *Also occasionally closed temporarily for building fumigation.
